Our colleague and experienced leak testing expert Brian Bergelt has brought along a practical example from his everyday life – a typical reason for complaint.
Moisture has penetrated his outdoor light chain after just under a year. This is annoying for the end customer and often has negative consequences for the manufacturer.
The manufacturer now has to:
1. record the complaint,
2. send replacement parts free of charge,
3. expect bad reviews.
With a CKO testing system, this faulty light source would not have been sold in the first place, but would have been recognised as a reject by means of cavity testing. This method, which is also known as the bonnet or bell test, is used for testing sealed components. And often with little effort. Estimated test time in this case: 8 seconds.
